There is some risk of it being exploited. But so does any other popular software.
If you use a firewall, a good antivirus, and use some common sense about allowing unknown
software to be downloaded and executed on your computer, you should be fine.
Personally, I prefer Microsoft Virtual Machine over Sun's.
