microsoft windows xpsp2, automatic downloads won't update

I now have 58 updates, patches security, IE, office, windows, media player
etc. I have tried to download them seperately, I have tried every trouble
shoot there is, I managed at one time to get 38 of them to download. It does
test for validation of real microsoft, no problem. I have called microsoft,
they no less than me. No error, just failed to download. Anyone have the
answer? Since I switched to msn, it has been this way.
