Microsoft XML Core Service 4.0 Update (KB927978)

Reports as an error & will not install.
Attempting to download & install again from the WU site results in the same
prob.
What do I need to do to fix?

Lyle,

For each attempt at installing KB927978 there will be a randomly named
file either on the root drive (the drive where WINDOWS is installed,
ususally C:\) or on the drive/partition with the most free space.
Locate the latest one created and open it. There will be an installation
log file in the randomly named folder.

Please post the *last* log file created during the last failed attempt
to install KB927978.
*Most* likely the installation failed due to an Access Denied error.

Is MSXML 4.0 SP2 listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel ?
Is KB925672 listed as being installed under Windows XP - Software
Updates at the very bottom of the list ? [Check the 'Show updates' box
at the top to see the Windows XP updates that are installed]
