Microsoft's 'Details...' doesn't work

When I update Windows XP Pro I use Custom update (not Express). I then get a
list of updates. If I expand the update (click the '+') I get a short
description with 'Details...' at the end. If I click the 'Details...' link
there is no reaction! It says 'javascriptarent.fnDisplayDetails("3");' on
the Status bar.
Does anyone have a solution? I have Norton Internet Security and System
Works installed. I assume something is stopping the javascript but I can't
find what.

Well have you tried disabling the Norton products and then going to the
update site again? You can turn the Windows firewall on while you're doing
this.

Against my better judgement I loadeded your suggestion and it didn't work.
The installation is for Vb and I think the problem is connected with Java

You're posting from a web interface to newsgroups.
Try a search? Recently one poster who had similar symptoms
found that the cause was a popup blocker.

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...c04&sloc=en-us

(search for
javascriptarent
)

BTW be more precise and avoid referring to JavaScript as "Java".
The two languages have completely different implementations
and really have nothing in common but a similar sounding name.
AFAIK there is no use of Java on the WU web site.
(There would be much mirthsome tittering if there was. <w>)

It appears that your scripten.exe solution worked. Maybe I didn't reboot! It
has also solved a similar and more serios problem I had on the Gigabyte site.
I had to use Netscape to obtain information.
Many thanks

Glad to read this... I was almost sure that the problem could be fixed using
the scripten.exe from MS website.

I have the same exact problem. However, my problem continues to persist even
after I have installed Microsoft Script 5.6
