Migrate to WSUS 3.0

I have a windows 2003 server running our WSUS 2.0 . I want to migrate to 3.0.
I am not sure of the process because.......

I originally had the SUS software on this server ( still do). WSUS was
installed alongside the SUS.
I had to eventually stop the Default Web site and change the WSUS site to
use port 80.

Q1. How do I remove the old SUS, as the Default web site although stopped,
is associated with this?
Q2. Will the WSUS 3.0 migration work with this configuration ?

Thanks

It may. The variable is that the port 80 virtual server is not on the
original DWS.

At a minimum, you'll need to restart the DWS, which also means you'll need
to put the WSUS site back on port 8530.

Then, upgrade from WSUS 2 to WSUS 3, which will create WSUS 3 on the
alternate port.

Then, stop the DWS, and reset the new WSUS 3 virtual server back to port 80.

I *think* that will work, but I've not actually tested the procedure.

It's an issue worth pursuing deeper, because it's the result of specific
written documentation provided by Microsoft. I'll see if I can find out what
the "official" procedure is going to be for handling previous SUS-to-WSUS2
migrations.

Everything you need for WSUS is at

What happens to the DWS?

Thanks

Apparently not, but since this is a /supported/ configuration as a result of
applying the steps documented in the SUS-to-WSUS Migration Guide, it
definitely needs to be addressed. I sent a direct email to the WSUS team and
I'm waiting for a response now.

Worst case scenario.. I'll write a step-by-step for this scenario --
including the necessary steps to *properly* put WSUS back on the Default Web
Site (which were, unfortunately, left out of the original SUS-to-WSUS
Migration Guide).
