Hello BillyTWorthington,
/gprep is not needed when 2003 is running, only when you upgrade 2000, but
doesn't matter if you run it.
I prefer fresh installed machines ,but you can also do an inplace upgrade,
if the hardware and software on the machine is compatible with 2008.
