Hi,

I have 2 DC's in my company. One of them is old server with windows 2k3 std
+ exchange 2k3 ent.

I bought a new server and I want to migrate the exchange from the old server.

I found in Microsoft technet, article that explain how to do that, but I
have a couple of question to ask:

How to Move Exchange Server 2003 to New Hardware and Keep the Same Server Name
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...EXCHG.65).aspx

1. Can I migrate from windows 2003 std to windows 2003 std R2?
2. Can I migrate from exchange 2003 SP2 Enterprise to exchange 2003 SP2
standard?
3. Can I promote server that running exchange already to be a DC?

Thanks a lot,

Itay

Yes, if the server should become DC you have also to run adprep command from
the second R2 disk.

This will be a downgrade, which requires a reinstall. Or do you mean install
a second server wiht exchange standard and move mailboxes/public folders?
That is possible.

You can BUT running exchange on a DC is a not recommended configuration.
Leave exchange on a member server.
