Migration Issues

Is it possible to do an inplace upgrade of windows 2003 r2 32 bit to WIndows
2008 enterprise 64 bit? Any gotchas?

Hello Bad,

You can not inplace upgrade a 32bit to a 64bit OS. This requires a reinstall.
You can run both version together without problem.

may be you can do one thing..! In place ugrade with 2008 32 bit, after
successful upgreade, hae a second system win2008 64bit join to upgreaded DC
and transfer all the role to 64bit DC and then remove the 32bit DC..! this is
judt an idea, please consult with microsoft support before doing any
activity..!

Hello Anand,

That's is correct and supported. 32bit and 64bit work together without any
problem. And 2003 at least with SP1 can be in place upgraded to 2008.
