Migration of NT 4 local accounts to 2003 R2 local accounts

I am attempting to migrate a VERY OLD FTP server running on NT 4 (IIS4) to
new hardware running 2003 R2. I am currently using local accounts on both
servers as these are not connected to our AD environment. I am able to
migrate the IIS FTP sites but am needing to migrate the corresponding NT
accounts to 2003 accounts. I am hoping somone has been through this, albeit
likely a long time ago, and can remember the steps/tools they used to
successfully migrate.

Does ADMT work for local accounts?

Does anyone know of a tool to migrate both FTP sites and NT accounts?
IISExportUtility only migrates the FTP sites.

Is there a way to export the NT 4 local accounts to a CSV and import into
2003? The CSVDE tool speaks only to AD accounts from what I have read.

Any detailed help is appreciated.
Thanks
JMic

Hello JMic,

ADMT works only between domains.

Check out File server migration tool for data:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...ocs/msfsc.mspx

For the local user accounts i think you wan't find something, that will complete
move them. How many accounts are involved?

Best regards

Thanks Meinholf. I will check out the migration tool. I am more concerned
with migrating the FTP virtual sites along with the local user accounts. The
data can be handled with a batch/script.

I am dealing with 30 - 40 accounts each attached to a virtual site for
logging on directly to their own FTP site, not navigating from the root
folder. So the problem is migrating the accounts and virtual sites and having
them remain connected with the correct permissions as server and drive name
will be changing as well.

Cheers

I am considering multiple free tools to do this and also the ServerMigrator
from WinZero. Any input / suggestions on this tool and any others with a
proven record are appreciated/

Does anyone know if the Microsoft IIS 6.0 Migrator works with FTP and if any
of the above are addressed by this tool? I have not used/tested this.

Any detailed solutions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hello JMic,

As you already stated better use the IIS newsgroup for that questions.

Best regards
