Hello,
We have a Windows 2000 server (name: WS1) with Active Directory managing the
domain “myhome.local”.
We have a user, login = “me” on AD.
We install a new server Windows 2008 (name: WS2) on an other physical network.
We set up AD to manage the domain “myhome.local” (same name as the one on
WS1). We created a user “me” (same also), but might be a different SDI.
We have to workstations:
1 under XP, name = XP1 and we connect with the login “me” (session on
c:\Documents and Settings\Me).
1 under Vista, name=V1 (c:\users\Me)
They both ar in the domain myhome.local managed by WS1.
We would like to suppress “XP1” and “V1” from WS1 to enter them in WS2.
It should be OK:
1. We suppress XP1 and V1 fom WS1
2. We connect XP1 and V1 on the physical network where WS2 is
3. We enter XP1 and V1 on the domain managed by WS2

Question:
Will it work ?
We had a session with my login on both machines, will we find it again? If
not, how can we manage?
There might be a tool to create/copy the user “Me” on AD managed by WS2,
while keeping the same WS1 SID

Thanks a lot for the help

Hello Radjan,

You can not do it the way you described. A workstation can be member of one
domain only. So you have to join it to the other domain or you can create
a two-way trust between the domains, so they can also connect in the other
netwrok/domain to there own domain.

Is this needed to access resources on the other domain, or what is the reason
for the setup?

Best regards
