Hi,

Since I installed SP1 on my Home Premium, when using WinRAR, I can't
open any text file, i.e., nfo, txt, diz in WinRAR to view it. I keep
getting an error message
"Can't create file c:\program files\ etc."
"Access is denied"
Do you, or anyone else reading this have any ideas as to what I need
to do to correct this, besides getting rid of the obvious causative
agent
VISTA
VIRUS
and return to my beloved XP Pro? <g>

Oh, Mike, also, when I first started Vista on the Internet, I was
offered an MS forum on Vista for feedback, but had a glitch in my
system (or more probably Firefox) before I could get to that site and
bookmark it. If you know site, I sure would appreciate it very much
if you would point me in that direction, as I would like to learn more
about Vista before I become thoroughly turned off by it.

WinRAR needs to be run as an administrator. Maybe RARLABS will come out with
a new version that does not require administrative privileges in the future
but for now you have to run it as administrator.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for that info. I was watching a DVD and not really "into" it
and remembered what you just mentioned and came into here to see if
that was the problem, and saw there was a message, which was yours.
I don't think I installed WinRAR as administrator, as I didn't learn
of this "trick" until about a month ago. I'll get back with you.

Thanks.

Hi Charles,

That did the trick. Thanks for the help. Sorry I was delayed in
getting back to you, but I just got back inside and sat down at the
computer and did it -- trying to beat the rain.

One quick question here, is it true that Vista is inherantly slower than XP
Home Edition or Professional?
If so, why? If one is trying to run the Vista mod that you can be running XP
in it's background....
