Hi I have recently upgraded to Windows Vista and I am having problems with
installing my webcam which worked perfectly fine on XP! The webcam is a
Mikomi sn6217m. When it is attached to my new computer it searches for the
driver using windows update and I get the following message.
Windows found driver software but encountered error blah blah
Not enough storage for this operation.
Have looked on the internet and lots of other people are having the same
problem. Any ideas about what I can do? Don't really want to have to buy
another webcam.

Have you been to the camera maker's website to look for
a vista driver? If found manually download and install it.

Yes have tried that one but Vista won't recognise the driver. I have tried
the mingjong website but too no avail. Many thanks for your suggestion. Any
other suggestions would be very much appreciated. Hopefully I don't have to
buy a new webcam.

Go into Device Manager and REMOVE the Camera,,, reboot
when it is found tell it to search the web for a new driver. Be
sure NOT to have any Camera dependent programs running
when doing this.

I have the exact same problem with another webcam (GE) and a smartcard
reader. Although I'm administrator of my machine, it acts like I have no
access to somewhere. Curiously, this webcam has a mic built in that's working
fine.

Now we are two looking for help :-)

FYI: I tried using Install Clean Up tool but didn't work.

I tried this method but to no avail. Computer showed that the camera didn't
even exist. Software is loaded on to the system but Vista won't register the
camera driver.

If there website lists it as a Vista compatible driver and it still won't
install, have you checked with Mikomi tech support about this issue, have
you checked any support or troubleshooting documentation they might have at
the website?
