i havent used my pc for a few years so no updates were installed. now i am
trying to connect pc to internet but i cannot connect it with an older version

What?

If you mean you have a computer that has Windows ME installed on it - you
should be able to connect it to the Internet just fine - dependent on the
Internet Service Provider I suppose.

Otherwise - please be a little more descriptive. ;-)

You will have to manually download & install IE6 SP1 to be able to access &
use http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com in WinME, Nancy.

Download the installer here:

Note that support for WinME ended in July 2006 and no updates for WinME have
been released since June 2006.
