I am running Vista Ultimate in default mode with UAC enabled. I started
having a problem with a third party application in that the parent and child
windows this application opens are missing the frames around the windows. The
minimize and maximize and close buttons are not shown. However, if I click in
the general location of the close, min, max buttons they appear and either
close or max/min the window. Which means the button are there but are not
seen. Could anybody explain why the frames around the window would be missing
and how can I resolve it?

thanks in advance.
Maureen

Sounds like a compatibility issue on Windows Vista. Have you installed any
necessary updates for the application or checked the developers website
about Windows Vista compatibility/support?

Andre,
Thanks for the repsonse. I have checked and they said nothing has changed.
Although they might not be to Vista savy either. The only thing I did was
uninstall and then reinstall the product and lost the frames around the
windows.
I would like to know what could have caused it and if anyone else has had
this problem with applications running. What could I point the vendor to?

If it is not suitable completely for Vista, try installing it in XP SP2 mode.

On the program setup.exe, right-click> Properties> Compatibility> XP SP2 Mode

HI Mick,

Good try. Before I saw your message I had already tried to use the Vista
Application compatibility tookkit to fix it. But no luck. Still not
min/max/close buttons.
