Thanks. "Taskbar" does not = "tray".

Hi,
There are a number of third-party programs/utilities which will enable this,
many freeware. I use PowerMenu 1.51
http://www.majorgeeks.com/PowerMenu_d87.html There are others:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...nimize+to+tray

Hope this helps,

Thanks for that - I've installed PowerMenu. Funnily enough, a Google
search didn't find that....

I've just noticed that when IE7 is minimized to the tray using
PowerMenu, when a link is clicked in (say) a newsgroup post, a new
instance of IE is launched, not a new tab in the minimized IE....

Trayit is the best tool for minimizing every application into system tray:

http://www.wintotal.de/softw/index.php?rb=39&id=459

After installation you just right click on the X button of a window
and it will be in system tray immediately.

I hadn't noticed that, but I'm not surprised. Outlook Express has a mind of
its own when sending a hyperlink to IE.
