This is an old post, but I'll answer it anyway, just in case anyone currently has a similar problem.
I interpret this question to mean that when you hit the middle "window" button, it seems to minimize to the taskbar.
The problem is likely that the window is off the screen which is why you can't see it. This might happen if you change the resolution, particularly if you changed your resolution from a landscape to a portrait mode (physically rotated the screen so that it is tall rather than wide) and then back again.
To remedy, right click on the Media Center banner on the task bar and select "Size". Hold the left mouse button down and drag toward the middle of the screen. You should suddenly see your Media Center window appear.
Another thing you can do is to change your resolution back to the portrait mode. You might find the Media Center window somewhere in the corner. Move it back into the middle and change the resolution back to landscape mode. Voila!
