See for links to SP1A and/or SP2

"To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), either Windows XP Service Pack
1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed.
If you have to install Windows XP Service Pack 1a or Windows XP Service Pack
2, go to the "Windows XP Service Pack 1a" section or the "Windows XP Service
Pack 2" section in this article."
FYI -
Are You Ready for WinXP SP2?
http://support.microsoft.com/default...r=windowsxpsp2
Once you are up to SP2 stage, then check with WU to see if you're offered
SP3. If not, you'll have more work to do.
Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3

You are not offered the option to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 when you
use the Windows Update Web site or Automatic Updates

Please post back should you require any further assistance and I'm sure
someone will respond if I'm not around.
