mircosoft life cam mic use with windows live messenger

windows live messenger does not recognize my microsoft lifecam's mic and wont
give me the option to switch mic setting to it. windows live messenger does
allow me to adjust the video settings for the cam. why doesnt it recognize
the cam has a mic and allow me to adjust audio?

Additionally, which Windows version are you using?

Hi
I am running mw-xp, mce, ver2002, sp2.
wlm is ver8.1
audio box has options "none" and "sbx-fi audio(1040)"
thats it, no microsoft lifecam option.
?? any ideas how to get the cam on the list of options, as its the only mic
i have??

I have fixed my problem by uninstalling my webcam in divice manager then
reinstalling the webcam. the webcam now comes up in the wizzard audio
selection.
