Hi Everyone, I'm trying to understand why I cannot account for 8Gb of disk
space on my C: Drive. I am running Vista Ultimate with SP1 on a Sony Vaio
VGN-SZ2XP. The HDD has been partitioned (46.5Gb for C: & 38.6Gb for D. When
I click t view the Computer, it is reporting that 13.3Gb of free space is
available (33.2Gb used), however when I collectively total up the C: drive's
content size (double-clicking on C:, selecting all from the Organise button
and right-clicking for the properties) it adds up to 25.3Gb of used space.
Has anyone any idea as to where the missing 7.9Gb is or why there is such a
reporting difference?

Regards,

A,

It's probably some hidden files like Hibernation and System Restore files.

There is space 'set aside' for future 'virtual memory', so far not used.
Other set asides like system restore, or favorites could also be doing that.
If that were permitted, your settings would be changing without your
consent. You have settings available to you to change these things.

The "missing" space is your recovery partition.
