Missed Vista serial number

I have bought a second hand laptop with windows vista business installed.
There is a sticker on the bottom of the laptop showing the installed windows
is a genius one. But part of the label gets wore out. I want to make
format the hard disk and do a clean re-installation of vista again.
However, I am so worry that if I miss the serial number, I would be stuck in
the middle of the process.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

If your laptop comes with a recovery disk and is genuine.U can make a clean
installation of your laptop without having to enter the product key however
you must activate your copy within 30 days or windows will stop working or
will be in a reduced fuction mode. If not you can check if your laptop or OS
is genuine in http://www.microsoft.com/howtotell

If the laptop mftr.'s recovery disk is used, no activation will be
necessary.

Most laptops will have an image on a special partition on the hard drive.
You invoke the mftr.'s recovery process by pressing a certain key as the
computer is starting up. If you didn't receive a manual with the computer,
the information as to how to start the recovery process will be on the
computer mftr.'s website. The alternative is to call the computer mftr. and
order a recovery disk set. This is normally very inexpensive.

Key finders such as Magical Jellybean will not be of use to you in this
situation because the key they will find will be the computer mftr.'s
volume license key and not the Product Key you would need to input during
installation with a regular Vista installation DVD.

You will not need to activate if you use the mftr.'s recovery process,
either by using the image directly from the hard drive or by using the
recovery disk set.

So if I get this right, OEMs package a brain dead, marginally recoveral PC
with ad-ware and the like, and with keys you can't use for a clean fresh
install....

So if you want a clean PC you need to buy a second copy of the OS for the
same PC.

And when you discover Home Premium is brain dead with missing stuff, you get
to buy a 3rd copy of Ultimate.

But wait, when Win 7 comes out you get to pay again for your 4th copy to
find out it is the SOS (Same Old Sh-t).

LOL. They need to bring back the good old days when you buy the OS seperate
from the PC and no double, triple or quad dipping the users.
