Missing 30GB after attempting to partition in VISTA

So Vista has a built in program for partitioning hard drives so I
"shrunk" my C drive by 30GB. Problem is, it never did show up as
unallocated space so I could format it.

If I go into My Computer it shows that my C drive is now 110GB when it
was 140GB but when I go into Disk Management it tells me its 140GB.

Can someone explain to me where exactly this space has gone? I'd really
appreciate getting it back.

Thank you

It should show up as unallocated space. I've never seen it to where it
doesnt actually.

Have you bounced the machine since you did the shrink?

I'm 100% positive it isn't showing up as unallocated space. I showed one
of my professors but he didn't know what had happened either.

Bounce back.. as in? sorry didn't understand.
