Hi, don't know what I did, but when I try to load and program or game that
runs in 16 bit MS-DOS the error message comes up that
'C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the
application....
Question, how do I correct this? am I missing a file and where do I find it
again. It must have been something I did, but I don't know what, it was
running ok last week..need help please...DJHarris5

Hi

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit
Windows-based program
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;324767

You can put back the standard version of autoexec.nt/config.nt by
copying a backup copy held in %windir%\repair\ to %windir%\system32\
(%windir% is typically C:\Windows) instead of using the procedure in
the KB article above.

Could be caused a trojan or something similar, e.g.
TrojanDownloader.Win32.Dia.a, more about this here:
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...ing.google.com

Also, AVAST (antivirus software) can be the cause if you
have WinXP SP2 installed:

I solve the problem and I have all my old programs working , after that I
remove the patch # 1 of the windows update , reinstalling my old version of
windows XP professional (without any patch nor update) in a different
partition of the disk , this partition its the only 2 gb room enaugh for this
program and the ms-dos aplications , the first Windows XP version work very
well with the dos programs.
