Missing codec?

PC: WinXP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3
WMP 11

Problem: Error message C00D10D1, missing an MPEG-4 Video (avc1) codec when
playing back videos transferred from my Flip camcorder and running WMP 11.

When I play the file via WMP 11, the video actually plays but the audio is
out of sync, and there's a "X" symbol next to the filename.

This problem with WMP 11 came up recently and it's not the case on my laptop
running XP SP3 with WMP 11.

Uninstalling and reinstalling WMP 11 didn't help.

Please help!

Does installing FFDShow help?
