Missing Folders

When i'm opening files in my desktop folder from within an application such
as front page or photo shop, only the folders with the green icons show up.
New folders i create which appear in yellow just don't seem to be there.
They do show up in windows explorer though. I am logged in as system
administrator also. This problem just recently started to happen so i'm not
sure what changes occurred. Thanks in advance for your help.
