Missing "Help" icons

Ever since I installed my Vista Ultimate Edition, the icons in "Help" have
been missing. It makes no difference whether I use online Help or Offline
Help. All I see are the proverbial place markers (red X) where the icons
should appear. Anyone have an idea how I can fix this?

Is the box for "Show Pictures" checked (under the heading Multimedia) on the
Advanced tab of Internet Properties?

This happens if the "Content Type" setting for .PNG file types is broken. Download a REG file from Daniel Martin's site here:

http://winvista.mvps.org/Ficheros/PNG.reg

Download and save it to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge.

I have the same problem, and the . reg file does not work for me. Have
checked the registry and the key that the reg file injects is already
there.

I have also read someting about In Command Prompt (which you should run
as administrator), type regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\pngfilt.dll, but
that only generates an error for me.

The module "c:\windows\system32\pngfilt.dll" was loaded but the
entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that
"pngfilt.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file.

Does this mean that the .dll file is corrupt or someting else is wrong
with it? I have tried running system file checker on the whole system
and on that specific file, and get no error on the file.

Hi eijnok,

Pngfilt.dll module in Windows Vista does not have a DllRegisterServer entry-point, and hence it can't be registered.
