I have windows Vista Home premium, the Icons in the Help section are missing,
also when I use Internet Explorer 7 it is the same. For example, if I vist
this page with IE 7, all the left side menu and the top of the page are boxes
with a red X in them, and they are all inactive. Would appreciate any help. I
have tried all the suggestions in this discussion group with Regedit etc, but
nothing seem to work. Thanks everyone

Hi Aussietaff,

I do not know if Option Two in this tutorial will help with IE7, but
this may help with the "Help and Support" icons.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi Shawn
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately, it did nothing, I had tried a couple
of other similar fixes without any luck. I don't know if it makes any
difference, but I do have winHlp32.exe installed. Also I would like to say
that in my Windows Experience Index, when I try to Update my score, it
advises "Cannot Complete Assessment"
Apparently, this is another common problem, that no one seems to have the
answer for. Thes e problems all seem to have happened at the same time, but I
don't know why, Everything else works fine. Thanks again.

Aussietaf

You definitely have something more going on. I would recommend that yo
do a System Restore using a restore point dated before this proble
started to see if it cannot fix it for you. This tutorial will show yo
how to if needed

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76...estore-how.htm

Hope this helps

Thankyou Shawn, The problem goes back further than the Restore will allow, so
I will just keep trying

Well Aussietaff

problem. This tutorial will show you how to

Hi Shawn, I don;t think that I am confident in doing your suggestion, because
everything else is working OK, I just might make it worse. Whilst I was at
the link I looked at the tutorial for re installing Icons, I search my
computer, and I do Not have a file called IconCache.db It just is not there
or anywhere else. Do you think that could be the problem? and if so how do I
get it back
Thanks--

Aussietaf

I would not do it if you are not comfortable with doing it. It's jus
the only thing I know of left to try. That's all

The IconCache.db file is a hidden system file and needs to be unhidde
before you can see it. This tutorial will show you how to and how t
rebuild the icon cache. I do not think that this is your problem though
