"Missing operating system" or "no operating system found" indicates that the
HD is not being detected.
Uusually (99.9% pure) it is a BIOS problem. HP (and probably others)
designated units "Vista capable" (note not Vista ready) on the basis
necessary drivers, BIOS updates, etc. would be available when Vista would
be available.
Having said that - You received a second disk, along with Vista, with the
necessary "updates" and BIOS update. You make no mentiuon of having
installed the drivers and updates prior to installing Vista - did you do
so?
