Hi, Jo.

Do you really mean the Taskbar - the stripe that is normally at the bottom
of the screen (but can be moved the top or either side)?

My SP1 certainly didn't do that and I've never heard of it from anyone else.
Could you please give us a few details about your system: make and model of
your computer (or motherboard, graphics card, etc., if you built it
yourself)? Which version of Vista? HOW did you install SP1 (Windows Update
or downloaded package)?

If you press the Pause/Break key while holding down the Windows logo key,
does the System Properties window pop up? What does it say? Does it
mention SP1?

If you just press the Win key, do you get a Start menu?

This is how I fixed this problem:
Restart Window in safe mode
Restore Window back to the period before SP1
Download and install SP1 again
Be patient the process may take long time
good luck

Hi

Do you happen to have a second monitor

I also had this missing task bar problem and it turned out the task ba
had actually migrated to my second (normally switched off as it's my tv
display

If this is the case you can simply drag the task bar back into you
primary display - you'll need to make sure it's unlocked first (vi
right click menu

Regard
