Missing update icon.

Will the Windows update icon appear in the taskbar if I have my updates set
to automatically download and install updates?

No... and it's not actually the taskbar, it's the notification area or
the system tray - which is in the taskbar area.

The Windows update icon appears in the notification area sometimes for me.
I have also automatic install and update set for me.
