When I receive messages from Windows Live Team containing mixed
hebrew-english texts, in many cases english words are displayed from
right-to-left, for example "liamtoH", "regnesseM". Message headers are
displayed normally. When I select the text and copy it to an editor, the
enlish words start look correct.

My system is Windows XP SP3, Windows Live Mail 14.0.8089.0726

First of all, you ought to update your WLMail to 14.0.8117.0416 at http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail. A lot of bugs were fixed in the 28 builds you're missing (I'm not saying that any of them had anything to do with language support, though).

There are so many variables involved with multiple language texts that mix RTL and LTR that it's not easy to pinpoint where it's going wrong. Since texts come out right in an editor, your OS settings (particularly input method) are probably correct. Does your text cursor have a little flag on it showing Left or Right?

The only options you have to play with in WLMail are the encoding used to read. I'm using the beta version at the moment, so I can't see what choices you have in your version. Try Tools > Options > Read > Fonts; for Hebrew, I have two encodings available, Windows and ISO (Logical), with a variety of fonts to choose from. The default selection seems to be Windows using David and Miriam Fixed. I could also select Unicode (UTF-8) as a catch-all encoding and, say, Arial Unicode MS as a universal font. Try selecting a different encoding; Unicode may cope better with mixed language, and I'm not sure what the difference is between logical and illogical encoding (!).

There is also the International Settings button on the Read tab; I find it best not to select 'Use default encoding for all incoming messages'; WLMail will then use the encoding specified in the message (if any) or make an educated guess otherwise. You can always change the encoding used to read in the message window.

Could you copy one of these mixed messages into a reply here so we could play with it? Highlight it in the Message List and press Ctrl-F3, then Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste into a reply.

Well, update to the latest version and playing with font settings don't solve
the issue.

Sadly, I cannot post here the source of the message 'cause the client
complains the post's too long.
