Mobile Active Sync with Exchange

I use mobile activesync to sync with my Exchange server and all is well.
Running Exchange 2003 on the server and Windows Mobile 5.0 on the PocketPC.
My domain based email address is more or less dead and it receives a
tremendous amount of spam so I want to simply change it or delete it. But
when I do, I am no longer able to sync. So, what has to match what?

before (this works):
NT Username: andy
NT Domain: CORPORATE
Exchange Email Address:
Active Sync Username: andy
Active Sync Domain: CORPORATE

after (this doesn't work):
NT Username: andy
NT Domain: CORPORATE
Exchange Email Address:
Active Sync Domain: CORPORATE

note: mydomain.com is the default exchange and system domain.

I have tried both andy and andy.robinson for the activesync username.
Neither works.

Does the exchange name have to match the NT username?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,

-Andrew

Hi,
Try deleting the Exchange information on the Windows Mobile 5.0 device and
re set it back up.

Chris,

I have tried this on a "just hard reseted" Pocket PC. Same issue.

Just realized that the exchange server is only at SP1 and am guessing this
might be an issue? Will take care of that this weekend and try again.

Hello Andrew, may I ask which phone you are using? Also, the SP2 for
Exchange will offer the "Push Technology" but it seems that it will only
work if you phone manufacturer has released a msfp update.
With your current configuration are you setting active sync to retrieve your
email at timed intervals? Will this run in the background
If you would, email me offline the response to this.

Chris,
If I were to set the Synchronized Pull from the device, when it pulls from
the exchange server does it utilize the https 443 port for active sync? I
already have 443 running for owa on the same f/e server

Hi,
Yes the pull uses 443 after performing a DNS lookup for the IP address.

Chris, will this work the same way over port 443 if I do not have SP2
installed on the front end server? The actual pull method via active sync
that is.

Thanks

Yes, that's my understanding. I tested SP1 with my SBS server and it used
443.

Actually not using a phone but a Dell x50 with the MW 5.0 upgrade. I sync
exclusively over WiFi directly to an Exchange server from home, work and a
few spots on the road.

Exchange has an issue synchronizing if the email address does not
match the username@UPN so in users and computers look at the
account tab tou will see a username in one field follwed by a UPN
needs to be listed there otherwise
activesync has issues

Hope this Helps
