Mobile text messaging

Hi,
How can I set a contact to be able to send mobile text messages. I assumed
that filling in the mobile number in the field that suggests it is for
Mobile Text Messaging would do this but it appears this is not the case. Am
I missing something obvious here?

Thanks for the reply,
I wasn't very clear there. I have signed up already and I have some contacts
I CAN text to. However I have others that I would like to text and although
they are (appear to be) valid wlm contacts with a mobile number against them
there is no option to text them. I have to delete the contact entirely, and
re-enter to get this option. I also have contacts with messenger addies I
can't message and this appears to be related. Br grateful for any
suggestions.
