Just having done a clean install of Vista Home Premiun - I have reinstalled
Money 2005 and being of sound mind and body I had saved both the back and
orginal money date on both CD and Usb stick. Cannot get Money to recognise
my files so decided to reinstall all data to overcome problem but now I am
being told that there is an update for money 2005 and I am tolsd to log off
then log on as an administrator- As I am the only user and am administrator
how do I over come this issue?
All help gratefully received

I had a similar issue last night installing Corel Draw X3 on my Vista
machine. It requested that I log into an Administrator account and activate
the software before using it. What I did was reboot into Safe Mode and
completed that portion of installation and I was able to use the software in
Normal Mode with Vista's Standard Administrator account. You could
temporarily disable User Account Control (Control Panel > User Accounts >
Turn User Account Control on or off), and finish setting up the program.

I had exactly the same problem and only found the cure after trial and
error.
Uninstall Money 2005 and delete any traces of all data files.
(Of course keep your original backups !!)
Roll back with system restore if you can just to make sure.
Reinstall Money .
Open and create a new blank account of the same name as your original backed
up file.
Don't bother to enter details when prompted but just get through into main
program screen.
Sit there for a few minutes until Money decides it needs to update (let it)
When update is complete exit Money.
Delete dummy account and copy across the original backed up account to the
same place.
It will have same name so Money won't get confused.
Open Money and account as usual and you should be back to normal with all
data intact.

Right click on the shortcut you use to launch Money and select "Run as
administrator". This is a one-time action which will allow you to apply the
necessary update.

In future just click on the shortcut as usual, unless some future update
needs administrative privileges to install.

Many thanks to you all for takingthe trouble to help an old silver haired
surfer out.
The answer is as the last sender said. Right click on the program and log on
as Administrator then it all works like magic.
Once again many thanks
