Monitor client queries to WINS

Hello:

What are some ways that I can monitor a WINS server to see which clients are
actually querying it for name resolution requests? I'm trying to determine
if any applications still depend on WINS. I looked at the WINS MMC and
didn't see anything for advanced or debug logging. I'm thinking that
something similar to the debug logging option in DNS would help. Thanks.

There's nothing built in that I know of.
The simplest way to test is to disable WINS (but you should first make sure
that all other computers/servers have the computer browser service stopped &
disabled).

I personally don't see the point of not using it, unless you have a very
large / complex network or don't care about browsing.

Well, there's Perfmon WINS Server counters. They offer per second queries
and other objects to monitor. But not for specific clients, other than using
a capture and filtering for port 42.
