monitor flashes on/off

Hi,
My monitor flashes on/off in IE so changed to Firefox but still happening.
I have just had Vista Premium installed again as I had a virus. I use
Norton antivirus (trial) and will have AVG free when the trial runs out and
just use windows firewall. Have scanned for spyware using Adaware and all
is OK. Can anyone come up with anything else to try to stop the monitor
flashing on/off?
