Monthly update failure

I downloaded August's monthly updates for Windows XP including KB936643,
KB936048 and KB940602, all three of which failed to install. Now I can't
load Excel, it tries to reinitialise Office Professional 2003 but fails
because it can't find SKU011.cab and refuses to accept it from the original
cd. What do I do now?

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot, AVG
Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before attempting
to install the update(s).

When you try to start a Microsoft Office 2003 program for the first time, you receive the
"Installation Error: File not Found" error message

I use AVG 7.5.484, and I've tried "Disable Resident Shield" and "Deactivate
Shell Extension", but neither works. Do any other AVG users out there know
what to do? The AVG website doesn't seem to throw any light on the problem.

Download the updates. Save to computer. Go OFFLINE. Shut down AVG.
Install updates. Turn on AVG. Go back online.

My experience has been that disabling AVG doesn't help with the update
problems. 7.5.484 here,too. Can't speculate about 3rd pty.firewalls and
such. Don't have any except what came with XP.

IIRC, AVG Free cannot be configured to exclude those files and folders.
