More 828026 installation blues

Hi all,

I've spent the last 3 hours trying to install XP update 828026 -- you know,
the critical update for windows media player. I followed Jupiter Jones'
suggestions twice. I even uninstalled Windows Media Player and reinstalled
that. But none of this allows me to get this update installed. This is
preventing me from installing Service Pack 2. Can some kind soul please help?

Of course, now Windows Update is showing there are no more updates even
though I haven't installed SP2 yet, but that's a different problem for a
different thread. Thanks again.
