I've followed some of the discussion about tweakui being made to work
on vista but find it does not for me.

Only one item from tweakui really helps me a lot and that is the way
you can make focus follow the mouse, and anything the mouse movers
over is focused and brought to the fore with a settable delay.

Much the same as a similar unix/linux option. I like that behaviour a
lot but find it tweakui does not cause that behavior on vista.

Can anyone tell me of a way to have focus follow the mouse and
anything the mouse moves over is auto focused and raised to fore?

TweakUI is just a graphic interface to registry keys. As Vista uses
different keys to previous versions of Windows, it's not a good idea using a
version that is not specifically made for Vista.

As long as there is no TweakIU for Vista, you should investigate the keys
that need to be changed, rather then use TweakUI meant for other versions of
Windows.

there are several tweak ui's

there is one from MS that is a powertoy for XP that cannot be installed on
Vista,
but there is also this one

http://www.download.com/Tweak-UI/300...html?tag=lst-1

that will probably work with vista
but I have not tried it yet. I personaly prefer using
x-setup pro that has hundrends of settings, and is vista compatible
(shareware though)

Even I used to waste my time with GUI fiddling when I was a student.

I know that you are an above average computer user, perhaps even a geek.

how can you use vista and not want to puke...its a disgrace... a collection
of huge mistakes.

Who said I use Vista? I haven't used it for work since last August. I do
plan to reinstall it on my main workstation very soon though, as I am
surprised to find that Windows Server 2008 actually does have some
killer-features. I only tried it to get familiar with it for my secondary
work as a CAD consultant, but now I am going to upgrade (well, totally
rebuild) my server to 2008.

many people report server 2008 to be better than vista.. but since they
share with sp1 the same kernel, can you explain why?
I mean you can turn on most of the eye candy that vista has on server too.

I am not talking about using it as a very expensive desktop OS. I mean that
it is a worthwhile upgrade over Window Server 2003. What I am most
impressed with it the improvements to Terminal Services, like RemoteApp and
Presentation Virtualization. It's not actually going to make much
difference to my work, but for my own use - the way my network is set up is
going to be very different.
