I set my computer to turn of the display after a preset amount ot time but
when I resume the pointerhas disapeard. when you move the mouse items are
highlighted but no cursor. When I open a programme however the cursor
re-appears.
Is there an update or hotfix for this or any other help that I could use as
this is getting quite frustrating now.
Many Thanks

Oh.. brother!

In vista they have made one of the most flakey - strange- horrible -
stupid - idiotic
ways to draw the desktop in an effort to bring 3d to the desktop,

They have screwd up things horribly. Plus, in order to get the 3d effect you
need a GPU more powerful than your CPU! lol

WHAT CRAP IS THIS??????

The result of this are hundreds of problems with the gui of programs.. and
even vista itself acts strangly.

AERO, both as design, and concept is stupid. Glass borders? Come on!
Its non user friendly, bad for the eyes, and darn right UGLY.

Fonts and colors are horrid, and you have only one theme! Ok cassic too if
you can count that as a theme.

Vistanerdy-nerds might be hypnotised by these stupid effects,
but anyone who know some stuff about compters, know how bad this really is.

THE FIASCO continues, when you try to turn "AERO GLASS" off, only to see
that
even the classic GUI now reacts SLOWER than AERO, and far slower than what
it was on XP.

WAIT I am not saying that 3d desktops are not good. On the contrary! But the
WAY its done on vista
is darn right BAD.

IN CONTRAST, the way XLG is imlemented in linux does NOT create such
problems.
The GPU can be a modest older one.... far cheaper and less power hungry than
what Vista needs.
You have ultimate control over what is going on and how things are
displayed.
And you can select and install thousands of themes without a problem....

Hi Mark,

Check for an updated mouse driver. The one currently installed may not
properly support the resume function.

I would suggest that you switch to a classic mouse cursor and see if that
helps

You can do that by the control panel.

Also, you might want to remove the shadow effect under the mouse
Do you know how to do this?

this is clearly a DISPLAY problem and not a MOUSE problem

The default mouse pointer is 'classic', and maybe you can give better
instructions to the OP as you do not think that MVPs are capable. It should
be no problem for you to check it out on your Vista installation.

My real advice here for everyone is to format their stupid vista and install
XP that works...

everything else is a waste of time. Vista is unfixable. I give some advice
from time to time to the poor vista victims...
but I know that this is only a temporary solution.. after a little while
another one of the trillion vista bugs will be upon them.

I have stated this again and again.. ===== VISTA IS STUPID.

MVPs are ok if they would limit their posts to helping people... yet they
have become one of the
worse "fanboy" clans in this newsgroup!

Hello mark.. I made a few screenshots for you

1) you can try making the cursor from screenshot A to B

A http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/9715/sshot1fe2.jpg

B http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/5115/sshot2gb0.jpg

2) you can turn off the shadow effect under the mouse, you do this by going
to the control panel, switching to classic,
then selecting the system icon .. then see this screenshot
