mouse pointer settings not saved

Each time win. vista boots up, i get the default mouse pointers. I've saved
some themes for the pointers but I must open the pointers window and select
one each time it boots. My laptop saves them OK.
I have an hp m8300f w/ win vista, nvidia geforce 6150 se video card, amd
athlon 64x2 dual core 6000+ w/ 3gig spd, 3gig memory, 32bit oper. system.

Any ideas to get them to stay?
