Where are Move To... & Copy To... shortcuts?

At my company, users are not allowed to drag and drop files and folders. I
have to much to do and I don't have time to stop and look for a file someone
dropped accidently and can't find anymore. In Win2000 and WinXP we had Move
To.... and Copy To.... shortcuts on the toolbar. I cannot locate any way to
change this new toolbar to add those shortcuts. I'm sorry, I have been trying
for days to find out how to get those shortcuts back and no one seams to know
and I'm frustrated to the point that nothing else will get done on this new
PC until this is resolved. It may not seam like a big deal, but without those
shortcuts, this is a deal breaker. I'll scrub the hard drive on this system
and load up Win2000. I make all of the decisions concerning the computers and
software this organization uses, since I'm the only who knows what he's
doing. If I don't resolve this issue by the end of the week, I'll be
contacting Apple computers first thing monday morning and everyone in this
organization will be getting new Macs, instead of PC's.

Go to Organize > Layout on the Toolbar . Put a check next to Menu Bar. From
the Menu Bar, click on Edit.

Quite easy to add this functionality to the right-click menu...

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/24...enu.html?ltr=C

download the CopyMove.reg and merge it into your Registry...

I ran into a problem with this patch. I use XP Pro on my work computer.
I tried applying this patch and it "seemed" to work.

However, I ran into a sever problem with the Start menu pulldowns. I
have my interface set for the W2K format since it allows me to nest
folders in a way that allows me to quickly find a program quickly. XP
did away with this.

After applying the patch, if I right click on any menu item under Start
Programs and select "Open" it would open a dialog box asking where to
move the file(s). If I Cancel the windows, I eventually get the action I
expect. Removing the keywords from the registry worked just fine

Guess I'll stick with the Power Toys for XP...........

I know this is a discussion of Vista, just wanted to let you all know...

Hi Hank,

Yeah, the patch was meant for Vista. It was worth a try I suppose fo
XP Pro though. Sorry it did not work for you.

No problem. Just deleted the registry keys and everything was back to
normal.

Hank,

Did you have the "Copy To Folder" and "Move To Folder" option under the
"Edit" menu?

XdN Tweaker has a single click option to add or remove these features to the
right-click menus.
