Move documents folder...

Hi...

I tried to move the "My Documents" folder in my Widows Vista Ultimate and
clicked wrongly. After cacelling the move of files, something went wrong.

I have made a folder named Docs to hold all my documents.
But when I right click on the documents folder, which now is pointing at
C:\USERS, there is no location tab.

What have I done?

Run the command:
shell:My Documents

click the Ratings button. Voting helps the web interface.

Øyvind Granberg,
Don't have the answer but I do know that shell:my documents is not in the list given in this fine tutorial:

I might have been a tad unclear here, or I don't have a clue what you are talking about.
To me this command yielded only an error message.

I want to move "My Documents"-folder to a new location, but the tab in the folders properties dialog box, enabling me to set the new location, is gone missing!

How can I then move my documents folder?
Registry tweak?

Hello Zadig,

You can use Method Two in this tutorial to change the location for the
Documents folder, called "Personal" in the registry, to what you want
instead.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10...-location.html

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Are you actually trying to move the "My Documents" Junction point, or are
you trying to move "Documents"? The two are entirely different things...

I am trying to move the default document folder to another internal
harddisk. From c:\users\Zadig Galbaras\Documents to d:\docs\
I want d:\Docs to be the folder which opens whenever I click on save in
Word.

Not just copy the files and subfolder to a another location.

:-)

Hi,

You need to fix the Documents folder path in the User Shell Folders registry
key. See:
