Greetings Mark,
This is actually pretty easy. With Messenger shut down, just head over to the following
folder on XP:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger
Then copy the contents of this folder over to the following folder on Vista:
\Users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Messenger
(if you've not signed into Messenger yet on Vista, feel free to create this Messenger folder
on your own).
Note that username is your Windows username. Additionally, some of these folders will be
hidden by default, to see them simply press the Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows
Explorer window to bring up the menu bar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the View
tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'. After clicking OK, they should appear
with the other folders. This goes for both Windows versions.
After this, just sign into Messenger on Vista (after installing it of course) and all your
content should be there.
