When I publish video clips I've made in movie maker, or try burning them with
windows DVD maker, some files get cut in half with the top half being the
video I was using and the bottom half being a green bar. Is there a patch or
something to fix this?

The codec of the original video clips I'm using is XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder.

Maybe the following info previously posted
about the green bar issue will offer some ideas:

Here's the website I found by googling my problem:

Fixing the Green Bar Problem in Windows Movie Maker
http://www.bernzilla.com/item.php?id=884

When I tried to follow the directions, I was unable to find XVid on my
computer. So I googled XVid and then went to ( I think) the 2nd entry to
download XVid. After I downloaded it, I was able to follow the directions
from bernzilla and when I published a video - Voila!! no green bar!!!!

Thank you so much. Xvid was properly installed on my computer, so all I had
to do was check the box described in the article.
