Movie Maker stopped working

Recently my computer reset itself for some reason causing all my settings to
go back to what they were when I first got my computer. As annoying as this
was it didn't cause any problems until I tried to use Movie Maker. For some
reason now it won't open. Instead I am given a small error message saying
"General Access Denied Error". I tried opening one of my old project files
but it just gave me the same message. Can anybody help?
