I have a problem with out network and an old server that we are trying to
take offline. This is an NT 40 box that we are currently using as our
default gateway and need to move this service to one of our 2000 servers.
What I've tried to do is take down the old NT box and reconfigure one of
our 2000 boxes with the default GW ip address.

One the box I'm moving the GW to I've added in the route table the
destination IP. The route table looks just like the old NT box, but I
can't connect to the other end.

Any help on this would be get, I need to get this box off our network.

Hello Kelly,

Please describe your network setup, switches routers etc. and how they are
connected. Normally you should not use a server as DG.

Best regards

Meinolf,

Here is what my network layout is like. We have 2 Cisco 1720i routers
that handle the routing between our 2 locations. This location is
setup with a different IP range with in our subnet. This is the way the
server was setup over 10 years ago before I was bought on board.

Here are the IP's for the Cisco routers.
Router A - 192.168.10.6
Router B - 192.168.14.1

We also have an DSL router that is running through an ISA server for our
internet connection.

Should my GW in my DHCP setting point to the 1720 IP? On the other end
that is how I've set them up to come back to the main office.

If you need more information let me know.

Hello Kelly,

Thank you for posting in newsgroup.

As I understand your description, you want to make the computers which are
located in different sites connect to each other after you take the Windows
NT 4.0 box offline. If I have any misunderstanding, please feel free to let
me know.

Suggestions:
===========

According your previous post, it seems that you made the default gateway
point to IP address of the internal interface of the Cisco 1720i router on
the other site, which makes all the computers connect to the main office
successfully. You may also try the same settings in the other site to see
if the computers can be online.

Hope it helps.

As far as I'm aware, the issue has been resolved with the prior posting KB
article.

Thanks
