Moving .exe program to another pc

Here's my story. Have Vista Home Premium and occasionally download a
program to "evaluate" and see if I like it. If I do like it, and decide to
install it on another pc, Vista seems to corrupt it when I copy and paste on
the second pc. Even if I copy the install program to a thumb drive, it
won't work on another pc.

Any help in changing a setting or something to correct the "bad" feature in
Vista?
