Moving IE Items to New Computer?

I'm in the process of planning my acquisition of a new computer and am detailing steps I
need to take to move my applications from my current computer to the new one. I currently
have a Dell Dim 8300 with WinXP SP3. I will probably be moving to a new Dell with Win7,
etc.

I currently have Internet Explorer8 on my current computer and will most likely have IE9
on the new one. In detailing my plans for the transition, my questions are:

- I need to move my "Favorites" to the new computer IE - should I just Export them from
IE8 on current computer and import to IE9 on the new computer - simple as that?

- What else would I need to move from IE8 on current to IE9 on new?

As I said, I am developing a transition list for all my current applications to the new
computer, and would appreciate any insights/suggestions any of you can provide to help me
in this process for IE transition

It pretty much is as simple as exporting and importing, although they may not look the same in IE9 as they did in IE8.
You may have to do some rearranging once they're imported, but basically, everything will be there.

Along with Favorites, if you have any sites that require cookies, like a banking site, then you'd want to export your
cookies also. If you use Feeds, you can export/import them, too.

Thanks SC - I will make a note of both the Favorites and Cookies (had not thought about
Cookies - Thanks).

You can Export your current favorites to a flashdrive, then Import them into
IE9. Pretty easy stuff. You can simply go with no Favorites on the new
machine, then as you navigate to pages that you once had pegged as a Fave,
then select Add to Favorites on the new machine. You will weed out old
favorites that you no longer visit if you use this method.

HELP TIP:
If you want to go to a website, type in the name -- but not www or .com --
and then press CTRL+Enter. The browser will fill in the www and the .com.
For example, type microsoft into the Address box, then press CTRL+Enter, and
you will be taken to www.microsoft.com. You can right-click on the address
and select Add to Favorites.

You have to Install any applications you have on your current machine onto
the new machine.
