Moving mailbox

Hi,

I need to move my mailbox (Mail delivery location) to a different drive.
When I do this and try to sync, ActiveSync does not recognise the previous
partnership and offers 3 options, replace items on device, combine and do
nothing. I managed to do the sync by moving the mailbox back to the original
location.

Is there any way to trick ActiveSync to not knowing that I moved it and to
get it to sync with the folders without having to go through a massive clean
up exercise after combining information.

I am currently syncing with 2 computers (one of which is connected to an
exchange server). Last time I used a delete duplicates program I had no
control over which item was deleted and some of my recurring appointments
were messed up.

Any information on the best way to deal with this would be appreciated.

Sean

Hi Sean,

If both the devices are upto date, then following the change in location of
your Mailbox you can select "Replace" when prompted with the "Combine or
Replace" dialog. This way the information on your device will be replaced
and ActiveSync will update itself with the new location of your Mailbox.
This information is stored in the repl.dat file of ActiveSync.

Using the "Replace" option will help avoid the potential duplication of
information issue. Either way its best to keep a copy before going ahead
with the steps that way you can revert back at any point of time.

If you are interested in knowing other instances where the same dialog box
can appear, refer to http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/Combine-Replace.html
