I've come across a frustrating issue and would greatly appreciate if
someone could help me resolve.

1.) am able to successfully synch my smartphone to our
outlook.company.com web mail server wirelessly from my MPX200
smartphone (via activesync on phone) via internet

2.) am able to successfully synch my MPX200 smartphone to our
outlook.company.com web mail server on a PC running activesync 3.7.1
using USB cradle and activesync internet pass through option in server
rules section

3.) am able to successfully synch when same PC as above is connected
to my work network via VPN

** 4.) when I connect this PC to our corporate network, am unable to
synch my mpx200 smartphone via activesync using internet passthrough
as Activesync on smartphone reports an INTERNET_31 error (as if it
cannot access the internet)

This has been a struggle and would appreciate any help that can be
provided.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

In the 4th scenario, if your PC is using proxy settings to access Internet
while connected on the network then pass-through will not work. As far as I
know, ActiveSync does not support pass-through connection when the computer
itself is using a proxy setting to access the Internet. You could check if
you are able to access any web sites using Pocket IE for confirmation.

In scenario 2 & 3 your PC has independent Internet connection i.e (No proxy
is involved) and therefore you don't have problem using pass-through.

Thanks for the prompt response. However in scenario 4, our corporate
network does not use a proxy. I am also able to browse the internet
using Pocket IE while in the cradle (using pass through internet
access). Not to mention, I'm also able to successfully browse to the
http://outlook.company.com OWA server. This is same server that I can
synch with GPRS (wireless) from phone without changing any settings.
So far, the issue seems to only occur when I go to work and connect my
PC behind the firewall. Strangely also, I'm able to connect to the
outlook web mail server using it's http://10.x.x.x address OR
http://outlook.company.com but not the server's external
http://66.x.x.x internet IP. Today, even went as far as to do a
master reset on my MPX200 and re-configure as I had nothing to lose.
Please help me - this is making me mental

Hi,

Assuming you are using pass-through connection set to Work, have you checked
the connection settings for Work on your PPC (Start -> Settings ->
Connections -> Connetions), maybe that will help. Beyond that, try posting
this problem of yours on the following newsgroup --

microsoft.public.exchange.mobility

This is with pass-through set to The Internet that I receive an
INTERNET_31 error. When set to Work, I receive an INTERNET_29 error
consistently.
